BY FAITH ALONE
Memory verse: Romans 5:1 “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ”
What is faith? Faith is an absolute trust in what someone says, does, or who the person is. When we believe or have faith in the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, what we are saying is that we believe and have confidence that his sacrifice on the cross took care or our sins once and for all. We have made an unqualified committal to Jesus Christ and his redemptive work.
There are two types of messages out there in the body of Christ. There is a gospel of righteousness by faith in Christ then there is the gospel of earned righteousness (works). In the later, we are told that after we received Christ, our salvation is only secured as long as we do the right things. We are told in this gospel that there is a limit to the mercy of God available. They are the ones that talk about missing the rapture. They talk about the Christian been left behind. This is not the gospel because it is not good news. The former however is the true gospel. It shows us that the moment you believe and receive Jesus into your heart, you receive the gift of righteousness both legal and vital. By legal I mean that in the court of heaven before the presence of the father, you have right standing. You are standing right because you are standing in Jesus. It has nothing to do with what you do or what you don’t do. Now this is not to mean that when you get saved you can live anyhow because you have also been made vitally righteous by been vitally righteous, we mean you have received the nature of righteousness because you have received the spirit of God. The Spirit of God doesn’t live in sin.
Paul tells us in Galatians 3:11 “ But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith” that by the law no man is justified in the sight of God. The just shall live by faith. A man can only stand rightly in the presence of God if he stands by faith. If he attempts to stand on the basis of his works, he will fall from grace
CONFESSION: I am saved by faith alone; I have no boast in myself. Jesus Christ is the author of my salvation. I believe in His finished work. I receive all He has to offer.
