All Things Are Yours
2 Peter 1: 2-3 “Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, according as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue”
One of the greatest disservice we can do to the believer is to teach him to beg for or work for what he has already been given. A mindset of trying to get something from heaven is fundamentally flawed. When we study the epistles of Paul and of Peter properly, we see some very interesting thoughts brought to us. We are mostly told in these letters of what has been already freely given to us in Christ. We are not told of what will be given to us, rather of what has been given to us. While studying the scriptures, it is important to note the tenses, we must differentiate between what God will do and what He has done.
Ephesians 1:3 “blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ”
In the above scripture, we see that we have already been blessed. We see that it is something that has already been done and not what God is planning to do.
1 Peter 2:24 “who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed” we see here also that we have been healed, we are not about to be healed.
1 Corinthians 6:11 “And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God” here we see that we are already washed, sanctified.
The epistles basically show us what Christ has already done in us, done for us and will yet do for us. It is important to know what God has done and what he has already given for our faith to be effective. Basically once you are completely aware of what has been given to you of God in Christ, you can now easily use your faith to reach out and receive it. You reach out and receive easily because it is already yours.
CONFESSION: I acknowledge all that God has given to me in Christ Jesus. I walk in the realities of it. I receive by faith all Christ has given. Amen
