CHRISTIANITY – NOT A RELIGION 3

Acts 11:26 “And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch”.

It’s interesting to note that the term Christian wasn’t mentioned many times in the bible. In fact, it is mentioned only once. Instead words like “disciples”,”saints”, “believers” or “church ” was used.

If you even notice believers in Jesus didn’t call themselves Christians. They were given that name by unbelievers because of their profession of Christ. The world always love to brand people. We must never give into that.

As believers we must always understand that though we are many, we are one body.

So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; Romans 12:5-6

Inspite of our many “denominations” we are one body in Christ. There is one body, one spirit, one faith, one baptism. We have one Lord we will all answer to.

The church of the lord Jesus Christ IS one!

We have the same spirit.

2 Corinthians 4:13 “We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore we speak”

We have been baptised by one spirit into one body.

1 Corinthians 12:12-14 “For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. For the body is not one member, but many”

So whether you attend one church and I attend another, we are members of ONE BODY.

We must never speak against each other.

We must never lift one member above another.

For every progress of one is the progress of another.

We must acknowledge the grace given to us in the body. It differs from member to member depending on the purpose of Christ for that member.

There is no useless member of the body.

All members are ordained to glory.

It’s wisdom for all to abide in the place God has ordained them to be.

CONFESSION: All who are born again are one body in Christ! I am a member of the body of Christ. I understand my place and function appropriately. I understand that every member of the body is equally important.
