If you are in Christ, you have not received a religion. You have not joined a religious group.

You are not ordained to rules and dos and don’ts. Christianity is not a “you shall not wear trouser club” or “you shall not wear make up” etc .

Remember, We have defined the word religion previously. For the sake of emphasis I will repeat it again. The word religion is in the Greek “threskeia” it refers to ceremonial observance of piety. It focuses on ceremonies. Religion is what men see you do in respect to the worship of God.

Since, it’s what men see you do, it can be faked. A wicked man can fake the external ceremonies. However, you cannot fake true spiritual worship.

Christianity is spiritual worship. It’s a man’s spirit made one with the Spirit of God. It’s an inseparable union. It’s the residence of the life of God in a man. The born again cannot be faked for a man is born again on the inside. Men cannot see the inside. They look on the outside.

1 Samuel 16:7 “But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart”.

Now it’s important that we maintain forms of piety before men so that may not reproach us or speak ill of us. But what we do that men can see is not the basis of our justification. We are justified by Christ.

Let us not be religious and concentrate on the external. We are not our bodies. Let us build up ourselves spiritually and it will be obvious in our external conduct.
