Gospel lyrics and our spiritual worship 3.

Think about songs that speak of “coming into the presence of the Lord” or “coming to the house of God”.

Expressions like this are not new testament revelation. They are better said by David, Moses or Samson. We are not David, David wanted to be us. He only saw the days of Jesus by faith.

1 Peter 1:11 “Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.”

Hebrews 11:13 “These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.”

In the Old Testament the “presence of God” referred to the “ark of the covenant”. The presence of God was wherever the ark was.

Exodus 25:22 “And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubims which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel.”

So God’s presence was between the cherubims on the ark.

So when David was said to dance before the lord, it actually meant he danced before the ark of the covenant!

2 Samuel 6:13 “And it was so, that when they that bare the ark of the Lord had gone six paces, he sacrificed oxen and fatlings. And David danced before the Lord with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod.”

He danced before the lord! He danced before the “presence of God” in the ark!

Get it?

So in the old testament they “came before the lord” from all Israel thrice a year. They had to be present in a physical location because the ark was in one place.

But now in the new testament, the ark is not wood. The ark is a person, his name is Jesus! If a man has Jesus, he has the presence of the Lord!

In Jesus dwells the fullness of the Godhead bodily.

Colossians 2:9 “For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and powers.”

And the believer is in Christ Jesus!

This is why Paul says we are the temple of the living God. We are Gods dwelling place, not his living space but dwelling place. He is at home in us because we are investing Christ!

1 Corinthians 3:16 “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?”

See that?

The spirit of God dwells in us!

So we don’t come or enter the presence!

That’s for the old testament man

Who had to enter his gates with thanksgiving in his heart and enter his court with praise.

We have entered through the blood of Jesus!

We entered once and have never left!

So when we gather as a church what do we call that? We gather to manifest collectively the glory of God within us. We come to fellowship with the glory. We are an assembly of divine beings, indwelt by God himself!

So our singing doesn’t bring his presence from heaven, our singing makes us conscious of his indwelling and that acknowledging activates the faith of God within which causes that same spirit of God to manifest himself in the midst.

Remember, out of the temple flowed rivers of living water, out of our spirits flows rivers of living waters! Christ lives in us!

Upgrade your revelation.

Increase the quantum of the energy of God you manifest!

CONFESSION: My revelation is upgraded, I am the temple of God. I carry His presence everywhere I go. Where I am, God is.
