HOW TO STUDY THE SCRIPTURES 6

Memory Verse: 2 Timothy 2:1-3 “You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus, and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ”

The person or persons who instruct you in the things of the gospel will go a long way in defining how you understand the scriptures.

There are teachers who still preach the law of Moses in the new testament, some others mix the law and grace and there are also who stick to the Pauline revelation.

Who you listen to matters!

Now it is virtually impossible to understand the deep truths of scriptures without a ministry gift. GOD never ordained for believers to learn Gods word without guidance. A teacher should instruct you!

Ephesians 4:11-14 “And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful”

The purpose of the ministry gift is to edify the saints, to ensure that believers are established and not tossed to and from by every new doctrinal fad!

May you follow true ministry gifts!

Never forget the doctrinal persuasion you decide to embrace will determine your revelation of God and also your understanding of the scriptures.

Now no matter where you are spiritually and who you currently listen to, spend time to pray the Pauline prayers. What are they?

They are the spirit inspired prayers by Apostle Paul for the church. Here they are below.

Ephesians 1:17-21 “that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come”

Pray it for yourself. Also there are other scriptures.

Ephesians 3:14-19 “For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God”

Philippians 1:9-11 “And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of his name”.

As you do this, there will be a supply of grace to you. The grace will include ministry gifts who will be brought to you by God to edify and build you up! When God sends them, honor and receive them.
