INTERPRETATION OF TONGUES 2

Memory Verse: 1 Corinthians 14:5 “I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying”

It is very important for the believer to be efficient in the interpretation of tongues. As with every single thing, practice makes perfect. The more you practice interpretation of tongues, the better you get at it. Believers meetings are richer when it is filled with saints who are knowledgeable about the things of the Spirit, where tongues are properly interpreted and spiritual utterances are made plain.

In the public assembly of believers, interpretation of tongues is more important than speaking in tongues. This is because in public, what is said that everyone understands blesses the people more than what is said that fewer understands. When it comes to tongues in public assembly, there needs to be certain wisdom applied. Now we must note that there is a difference between praying in tongues in a public assembly and speaking in tongues in the same. When you pray in tongues in a public assembly, you are speaking directly to God and not any man. That communication does not necessarily need any interpretation however when you are speaking in tongues, the object is the public i.e others gathered in a meeting. For example, it will be unwise for a preacher to do most of his preaching in tongues because many will not understand what he is saying. However, utterances in tongues directed to the general congregation are better interpreted so as to bring edification to everyone. The church gathers for the edification of everyman and all things must be done for edification.

CONFESSION: I am becoming more proficient in the interpretation of tongues, I add spiritual value ion services in my local assembly, I am a minister of the varieties of the spirit.
