Love 2
Memory verse: Romans 5:5 “And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.”
The believer in Christ is a love creature. He has the love of God within him. He now has to exercise himself in that love.
He has to renew his mind to the love of God shed within his spirit. This is essential to his spiritual growth because the bond of Christian perfection is love!
Colossians 3:14 “And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfection.”
Charity here is king James for love for it is the Greek “agape”.
One very unique character of love is that it doesn’t hurt its neighbour.
Romans 13:10 “Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law”.
Love doesn’t speak ill of its neighbour. Love doesn’t character assassinate or name call. Love doesn’t reveal faults in people’s character and magnify mistakes.
Instead love covers a multitude of sins.
1 Peter 4:8 “And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins”
Love knows we aren’t perfect. Love calls us by who we are in Christ and never by what errors we may or may not have committed.
Love is the estimation of a man’s worth through the eyes of Christ’s finished works. When we look at people through the eyes of Christ, we find that they are always lovely, beautiful and blessed. This is how we should see, this is how they are!
So love works no ill.
Speaks no ill.
Does no ill.
Anything that you do that reduces the estimation of a brother or sister in the eyes of another is not love. Love always presents another in the right estimation. Christ is the right estimation.
Your love walk is the most vital aspect of your Christian experience. Do not be slothful in this thing. Walk in fervent love to every man. It is God’s will.
CONFESSION: I am a child of love. I do not speak ill of anyone. I see people as God sees them and relate with them with that perspective in Jesus name. Amen!
