Memory verse: Hebrews 10:10 “ By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all”

It is very important that as believers we have confidence in the finished work of Christ. The faith we have in Christ is the foundation for everything we do after we have believed. The bible declares that any man who is unskilled in God’s word concerning righteousness is a baby Christian so it’s important for us to have a proper understanding of what it means to be saved and how secure that salvation is. Romans 5:12 “ For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.”

Basically we have two lineages of men according to the scriptures. We have the first Adam and we have the second Adam. The first Adam by disobedience was separated from God. He was in sin and darkness and he came to be in this situation and position by one act of disobedience. Now everybody who was born according to his lineage was born into the same nature and character of sin and darkness and as such everyone that was born in the lineage of fallen Adam was born a sinner without having sinned. This is because sin is first of all a nature before it is an action as such nobody in the lineage of Adam can be righteous because by nature, Adam their ancestor was a sinner. Now we must note this, to be a man in the lineage of Adam, you have to be born of Adam.

Now the second lineage of men that we have is a lineage according to the second Adam which is Christ Jesus. Christ Jesus did not disobey, He obeyed all commandments, He fulfilled the Law of Moses and set it aside. On the cross of Calvary, he took upon himself all of man’s punishments for sin (past, present and future) so anyone who is born after the image of this second Adam automatically will possess his nature of righteousness just as anyone who was after the image of Adam possessed the nature of sin and darkness. This is why Jesus said to Nicodemus, you must be born again. What he meant was you must be born after the new order of men. You must die to the first order and be born into the new order. 2 Corinthians 5:17 “therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

So if you are in Christ Jesus, you have received the gift of righteousness and that gift is yours eternally never to be withdrawn for the gift and calling of God are without repentance. Romans 11:29 “ For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.”

CONFESSION: I am a son of God, I have the nature of righteousness, Christ is my righteousness, and I have received the gift of eternal salvation. Amen
