OUR GOD IS ONE 2

Memory verse: 1 Timothy 3:16 “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory”.

We saw yesterday that God is one. Christianity is not a worship of three Gods but just one God. This God has distinct manifestations and expression.

One of the expressions is called the word of God.

What does that mean?

John 1:1-3 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made”.

We have an introduction to the expression “the word”. The Greek is logos. Logos means the explanation, The reason and more correctly, the logic. The logos of a thing is the logic of it. So when you read the word (logos) of God it actually means the logic or explanation of God.

If we understand the logic we have clearly the understanding of the person the logic reveals.

Now the scriptures say “the logos was God”

And

John 1:14-16 “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me. And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace”.

And that logos became flesh, his name is Jesus.

So Jesus is the intrusion into the realm of flesh and matter of the eternal God.

Remember, we said God is eternal. He is timeless. He precedes time and matter. He doesn’t even live in time and matter. He can’t be contained by anything created in time whether heaven or earth. He lives in the eternal realm where no natural man is.

He works in the realm of time and matter but we can’t see him. The bible calls that manifestation of God we see in time, space and matter without seeing his form, the Spirit of God. God never stepped out of the eternal. He created the whole world i.e the realm of space, time and matter by his Spirit (we don’t see his form but we see his effect)

Genesis 1:2 “And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters”.

The first and only manifestation of the eternal in visible form of matter is JESUS.

Jesus is GOD manifested in the realm of space, time and matter. Jesus is God’s intrusion into the senses.

Colossians 1:15 “Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him”

He is the substance to the invisible God. He is the physical God expression. He is the final proof that God IS!

So many ask. How can you say Jesus is God? Who was he praying to?

God is not man. He is not a scalar quantity. He cannot be measured. He is infinite!

The father the eternal and timeless always and will always exist in eternity -a realm outside of created time.

Jesus is the full expression OF that eternal God in time!
Let me explain it this way.

When a man has a son. The son is the full expression of the genetic code in the fathers DNA. The delivery of the son doesn’t affect the existence of the father!

Same here.

Jesus is the full manifestation of the father in time.

He is God we see!

Why is he called the SON?

Because He is in time!

The word is eternal.

But there was a time the word became the son-the physical expression we can see, touch and handle!

Jesus said if you see me you have seen the father.

John 14:9 “Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the father”

After Jesus there is no other revelation of the father .Jesus is the revelation of the father! He is the father manifested in time, space and matter!

CONFESSION: Jesus is the full revelation of the Father. In Jesus, I see the Father, I know the Father. Amen
