PLAN YOUR GIVING 2

Memory Verse: 1 Corinthians 16:1 “Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye”

It is very important as believers to understand why we must give, when we must give and how frequently we must give. Preaching the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ around the worlds is our Father’s business. It is God’s number one concern. There are two categories of people God is unwilling to do without; Soul winners and Givers.

Yesterday we began to look at examples in the epistles where Paul advocated why and how we should give. We examined 2 Corinthians 9:6-8. Today, we will look at another example of Paul’s apostolic instruction on giving.

Galatians 6: 6-9. “ Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things. Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”

Here Paul speaks about giving to bible teachers, those who teach and ministers spiritual realities to us. Here again, Paul reiterates the principle we saw yesterday. He shows us here that in terms of financial giving, you reap what you sow. He also shows us how that it pleases God when we give. This is because giving reflects the nature of God’s heart.

John 3:16.For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”  God so loved the world that he gave. You cannot love without giving. You can give without loving but cannot love without giving. The truth is when we are walking in love towards our local church, church leaders and members of our Christian community; we will always find ourselves been liberal in giving to them. The reverse is the case when we are walking in the flesh. We find that we are stingy, selfish and only give grudgingly. The rate at which we give at a particular point in time usually reflects how much revelation of God’s love we are walking with at that time.

CONFESSION: I plan my giving; I give to my local church, my teachers and to brethren in my Christian community. I am a giver, not a hoarder. I walk in love and I reflect God’s nature of giving always.
