SPEAKING IN TONGUES 2

Memory Verse: Acts 19:6 “And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake in tongues and prophesied.”

Yesterday we looked at what speaking in tongues is and its importance. Today we will explain speaking in tongues from another angle. Let us understand creation properly. First, the bible says God created the Heavens and the earth i.e the realm of the invisible and the visible. On the earth, time is regulated by the movement of the earth around his planetary neighbors primarily the sun and the moon however time in the realm of the spirit is not regulated by planetary bodies. The primary regulator of time in the realm of the spirit is the word of God. Hebrews 11:3 “through Faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear”

Time in the realm of the spirit is much faster than time in the earth which means that things will first occur in the spirit realm long before it occurs in the realm of the physical. This pattern is replayed throughout scripture for example Daniel saw that in the realm of the spirit, the prince of Persia was dethroned and the prince of Greece was in power but it took 300 years for what was already true in the spirit realm to manifest in the earth realm. So we can see here that things occur slower in the earth than they do in the spirit.

How does this relate to speaking in tongues? Well, speaking in tongues means actually to talk by the spirit, from the realm of the spirit. This would mean that if I do most of my speaking and praying in tongues, I will be able to get results with the speed of the spirit’s time as against the earth time. It also means that you get to know things that have already happened in the realm of the spirit a long time before you see a physical manifestation. So with this understanding, we can see that praying or speaking in tongues is a very effective way of receiving answers to prayers. We must learn to rely on spiritual utterances in prayer. Many a times, we seek to pray using our understanding and asking based on the understanding of the situation we find ourselves. There will always be a limitation when we pray via our understanding and that limitation is one of knowledge. Romans 8:26 “Likewise the spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groaning which cannot be uttered” when we pray in tongues, we rely on the Spirit of God that indwells us to present accurately before God our request in the light of all truth. This way we do not pray amiss and we get result every time.

CONFESSION: I give myself to talking in tongues, I give myself to praying in tongues. I declare it profits me greatly and that I make tremendous progress. Amen.
