The conscience 3
Paul speaks about the conscience a lot.
From his writings we see that he never did anything against the leading of his conscience.
Let’s see a few scriptures.
Acts 23:1 “And Paul, earnestly beholding the council, said, Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day”
Acts 24:16 “And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men”
Romans 9:1 “I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost”
Here we see that his conscience is not the voice of the Holy Ghost but the voice of Paul’s inner man. Paul’s inner consciousness. He says the Holy Ghost bears witness to what’s in his conscience.
I believe that if a man would not violate his conscience he will deal wisely and rightly with all men and will not miss God.
This is provided that he spends time feeding on the word and drinking of the spirit daily.
He will not miss God.
He will also not hurt men.
Your conscience knows when you miss it or are missing it.
That knowing is deep down within you.
Now the believer in Christ has had himself purged from an evil conscience. Sin consciousness has been removed from him.
Hebrews 9:14 “How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God”
His conscience has been purged ,cleansed from dead works of the law to serve the living God.
The conscience of the man in Christ is alive to God. Hence, he receives from God daily.
It will therefore be wise for the Christian to follow the dictates of his born again conscience and never violate it in dealing with men and God.
Never go against your conscience.
Keep it tender.
Keep it free from offence.
Keep it a good guide.
Remember the words of Paul to Timothy.
1 Timothy 1:19 “Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made a shipwreck”
A shipwreck means they are stranded. No progress in their journey of faith.
Faith and a good conscience!
Remember, keep your conscience tender and void of offence to all men.
CONFESSION: I have been given a good conscience, I keep it pure. I keep it tender. It serves as a good guide to me. Amen!
