THE NATURE OF GOD 9

Memory Verse: Exodus 11: 4-6 “And Moses said, Thus saith the Lord, About midnight will I go out into the midst of Egypt: And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sitteth upon his throne, even unto the firstborn of the maidservant that is behind the mill; and all the firstborn of beasts. And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there was none like it, nor shall be like it anymore.”

After this post, I will explain how the realm of the invisible works in terms of justice, righteousness and mercy.

But before that I must address a question that I think is very important.

It’s about the death of the first born sons of Egypt.

Let’s examine it.

We examine with the lenses of the logos.

Exodus 11:4-6 “And Moses said, Thus saith the Lord, About midnight will I go out into the midst of Egypt: And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sitteth upon his throne, even unto the firstborn of the maidservant that is behind the mill; and all the firstborn of beasts. And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there was none like it, nor shall be like it any more”.

Moses says he heard God say I will kill the first born of the Egyptians.

Moses said so.

But see again what he later said.

Exodus 12:23 “For the Lord will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the Lord will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you”.

NOTICE that part where it says “and will not allow the destroyer to come into your houses to smite you”

This means there was a destroyer!

This destroyer didn’t differentiate between Israel and Egypt.

The difference was the blood!

If God was the one killing why would he need them to apply blood to protect them from himself???

If it was God, he would just kill the Egyptians and leave the Israelites alone!

Here is another truth.

If an Egyptian who was a firstborn son stayed in Goshen with a blood stained lintel the destroyer wouldn’t strike!

Why?

Because the destroyers job was to bring to bear the wages of sin which was death.

The presence of blood meant someone had already died for sin in that house. That made it illegal for another to die. The blood therefore atoned for the sins of the Jews and all who applied it and the Egyptians firstborn died because their sins weren’t covered.

CONFESSION: I am what the word of God says I am. I can do what the word of God says I can do. I am prosperous, I am above only. I yield myself to the Spirit of God.
