TYPES OF MEETINGS

MEMORY VERSE: 1 Corinthians 14:26 “How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying”

The kind of meetings a believer attends will determine the strength of that believer’s Christian experience. There are several kinds of meetings programmed by the Spirit of God to help the saints grow into the fullness and stature of Christ. We are going to look at the different types of meetings we can have in church; we would define them and clarify their purposes.

  1. Evangelical meetings
  2. Teaching meetings
  3. Believers meeting
  4. Holy Ghost meetings
  5. Worship services

Let us look at two of the five mentioned in lieu to the subject of the gift of the Spirit we’ve been looking at in the last couple of days. We will examine Holy Ghost meetings and Believers meetings.

What is a Holy Ghost meeting? A Holy Ghost meeting is one where we allow the Holy Ghost free course among the believers. It is a meeting that is for believers and not unbelievers. While we do not prevent unbelievers from attending if they want to, the service itself is not designed for them. A lot of things occur in Holy Ghost services but first we must understand that the purpose of this meeting is to edify the saints according to 1 Corinthians 12:7 “But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal”. In this meeting, we minister to each other in psalms, hymns, spiritual songs, in tongues and interpretation Ephesians 5:18 “And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit”. It is usually an atmosphere of joy as the saints get drunk in the Spirit; there is usually supernatural joy, liberation and gladness in these meetings. The end result of this is that the saints become strengthened and leave the services full of the Spirit. Holy Ghost meetings are a vital necessity to a Christian’s proper spiritual growth and development. So whenever a Holy Ghost meeting is announced, be the first to be there.

CONFESSION: I allow the Holy Spirit free course in my life, I choose to be full of the Holy Spirit every day of my earthly sojourn. Amen
