ACTIVATING THE POWER 2
MEMORY VERSE: 1 Corinthians 2:4-5 “And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God”
Yesterday, we had an introduction to how we can activate the power and we saw that the first step is knowing that the power of God is a gift that has been freely given and that it is resident in you if you have the Holy Spirit. Today, we will look at the manifestation of the Spirit of God that we have been given.
1 Corinthians 12:8-11 “for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills” shows us the manifestation of the Holy Spirit although we call them the gifts of the Holy Spirit. As we look through these scriptures, we see that the Spirit of God is saying is that when you receive the gift of God, it is the person of the Holy Ghost. The presence of Holy Ghost in your life guarantees that you can walk in any of the nine gifts. So, stop looking at the gift and concentrate on the person. That’s why the scripture above kept saying the same Spirit. Let’s move to verse 11 “But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills” tells us that the Holy Spirit has those nine gifts and he gives to everyman as he wills. This is not to say that anybody has a monopoly of any gift. As we are willing, yielding, the Holy Spirit is able to make the gifts work through you. When you understand this, when you are praying, you won’t be waiting for something to drop from above or fire to fall from heaven because the Holy Spirit is already inside us, the Holy Spirit is the gift.
From experience, I have found out that the gift of the Holy Spirit does not work in your life because you prayed. There is no place in the scripture where it tells you to pray for power or pray for the gift. The only thing it says is covet earnestly the best gift. That means through desire, when the Spirit of God that lives in your inside sees that you are desirous of a particular gift, he gives you the manifestation of that gift. It is hunger, desire, thirst that helps us manifest the gifts, because the God wants us our joy to be full and it is important that you are around people that manifest the gifts of the Holy Spirit so that your desire is increased. The frequency of manifestation of these gifts is primarily based on your desire, your placing in the body of Christ.
CONFESSION: I have the gift of the Holy Spirit; I receive all nine manifestations. I express all nine manifestations of the Holy Spirit. I am a dispenser of the life of the Holy Spirit.
