UNTO US A CHILD IS BORN
Memory verse: Isaiah 9:6 “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace”
Merry Christmas! I wish you a very wonderful day and all of God’s blessings.
Today, we will be looking at the Christmas story. Why did Jesus come? Sadly when you look around in the world, the message of Christmas has been lost on the world. It has basically been reduced to an effort to commercialize the season but why did Jesus come? We see in Isaiah 9:6 that he was born in his incarnation as a child but he was given as a son to die for all humanity. Why did he die? He died to redeem all from sins Ephesians 1:14 “Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory”.
He came to save us from eternal punishment and separation from God which all of mankind truly deserves. He came to redeem us from the authority of darkness, the dominion of sin. He came to make is new creations, temples of the living God. He came to make us one with the father and one with himself. All this He accomplished in his death, burial, resurrection and ascension.
Many people say that Jesus is the reason for the season which is true but they immediately forget one important thing that Jesus came for you and I. We are the reason He came, we are the reason He paid the ultimate price for sin. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life”, the Father gave Jesus for us. So every man on earth is the reason Christ came. So on this day, ensure you let the world know the gospel message. Tell them that Jesus Christ died and rose from the death and is seated in the highest place of power in heaven just for them. When you do that, you are truly celebrating Christmas.
