THE NATURE OF GOD 2

Memory Verse: John 3:16-17 “For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved”

What is God’s attitude towards sin and sinners?

When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? Hath no man condemned thee? She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more. Luke 8:11-12

The attitude of Jesus to sin is to forgive the sinner. He is forgiving. In fact, He has removed sins far away by remitting them totally.

In him we have forgiveness Ephesians 1:7 “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace”; Colossians 1:14 “In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins”

And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; Colossians 2:13-14

He has forgiven all sins and remitted them.

God’s reaction to sin and the sinner from eternity has always been to be merciful and compassionate to the sinner and forgive his sin.

He has always desired for sinners to become saints. He predestined all men to be conformed to the image of the son. Romans 8:29 “For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren”

It had always been the plan. God didn’t change. He remains the same, Always.

What is his reaction to death? Does he use death??

Let’s look at Jesus the explanation of God.

Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage Hebrews 2:14-15

Notice!

Until Jesus, Satan had the power of death.

This means that the fellow who used death was Satan!

Jesus came to wrestle the authority of death from Satan!

For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. For he hath put all things under his feet. 1 Corinthians 15:25-27

Death is an enemy of God. It is the last enemy that will be destroyed.

Now did God create death?

Nope.

Death came by man!!!!

Man chose death by disobedience!

For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. 1 Corinthians 15:21

See that?

Man brought death in by disobedience.

Death is the result of man’s actions not God!

Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned Romans 5:12

So you see that God hates death.

It is a product of man’s rebellion.

It is a child of sin.

Hence, the logos of God came to show God’s will concerning death by first defeating him who wield the power and then obliterating death itself!

CONFESSION: God is a good God. He is responsible for all the good in my life. Because He gives only good gifts, I expect only good things in my life.
