Watch Your Words

Proverbs 18:21 “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof”

Many do not realize the important and because they do not know the importance of their words, they are careless with their words. All through scriptures, we see the overwhelming emphasis placed on the words that proceeds out of a man’s mouth. In the scripture we used as our memory verse, we are told that death and life are within the ambit of the tongue and they that love it shall eat the fruit of it. This shows us that a man can chose life or death based on what he says.

I want you to think about this very well for a moment, according to Romans 10:8-10 “But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation”. If something as important as eternal life and salvation is determined by our words, doesn’t that tell us that the content of our words are so important?

In proverbs 18:20 “A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled”, you can determine what fills your belly by what you fill your mouth with. So dear believer, fill your heart with God’s will from his word concerning you and proclaim same with your tongue. As you do this, you will realize that you will experience life in everything you do and death will be far from you. Therefore, as you start this new week, ensure you speak life only and never death.

CONFESSION: In the name of Jesus, I declare that I experience life in all that I do and not death. I enjoy all of God’s blessings; I declare that I win in all affairs of life. It is not over until I win. Amen
