LIFESTYLE OF THANKSGIVING

Memory Verse: Psalm 81:1-2 “Sing aloud unto God our strength: make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob. Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery.”

Life is usually full of challenges. There are circumstances and situations that might occur that is not in keeping with our desires from losing a job to losing a love d one or losing a contract or a job you were sure to have. Through it all, we must always learn to give thanks to God when adverse circumstances and situations occur. Paul is an example of this, in Philippians 4:4, Paul declares “Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say Rejoice” it is amazing that Paul says this because at this time, he was in prison in Rome. Think about it, Paul mentions Joy 14 times in the entire book of Philippians yet he was writing from a jail cell where he faced an uncertain future. What a wonderful attitude. It is the attitude of a believer to always be full of thanksgiving no matter what is happening. When we murmur, grumble and complain to God about our circumstances, it’s usually because we are looking at the wrong things.

The bible declares in 2 Corinthians 4:18 “While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.” so here we see that the things which are seen are subject to change. They don’t last forever whereas the things which are not seen are unchangeable. A man who lives a life of thanksgiving has chosen to focus on the unchanging God rather than his changing circumstances. No matter what, give thanks.

CONFESSION: My mouth is full of thanksgiving to God; I will praise him all day and all night. His praise will always be on my lips, His word will always burn in my heart.
